Caravaggio Exhibit at the MNBA

From the 25th of October to the 15th of December, the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (National Fine Arts Museum), will be showcasing a special exhibit of Caravaggio’s work.

The exhibit, named Caravaggio and his Followers, will display a special selection of the baroque artist’s paintings, as well as showing a selection of works by other artists who he has influenced. These artists are Artemisia Gentileschi, Bartolomeo Cavarozzi, Giovanni Baglione, Giovanni Battista Caracciolo, Hendrick van Somer, José de Ribera, Leonello Spada, Mattia Preti, Orazio Borgianni, Orazio Gentileschi, Orazio Riminaldi, Simon Vouet, Tommaso Salini and Valentin de Boulogne.

The exhibition is the first in Latin America to display  such a broad selection of this renowned artist’s works.  Another important exhibition of Italian art is taking place in the Museo Nacional Decorativo, where Renaissance paintings are being displayed.
