Monday is the last chance to stop by the annual international book fair. Tickets cost 20 pesos and the fair is open from 2pm-10pm. Find the full program of activities here.
In the evening stop by La Peña del Colorado where a tango peña will be held at 8.30pm. This Palermo centered Peña serves traditional food and stages live shows by an array of performers as well as hosting folklore dances for the community. Professional photographer Jocelyn Mandryk (who took Fierro’s latest photographs) and her associate Becky Hayes have taken tourist photography to a whole new level on their Saturday Foto Ruta tours. What they propose is to get to know the city from another point of view, taking their travelers through off the beaten path locations and setting creative guidelines for the photographs so that they can explore the local colors and characters through the lens from a new perspective, finding what they normally wouldn’t on a typical tourist location. The Foto Ruta tour runs every Saturday from 2pm-6pm and costs 100 pesos. Upcoming locations are listed on the Foto Ruta webpage.
On Saturday don’t miss the free jazz concert at Boris Club de Jazz where singer-songwriter María Eva will be presenting Ciclo Bienestar at 11.30pm. Gorriti 5568, Palermo.

In the evening Julio Morales y los Afro Argentos will be playing their new material from “Un Pasaje a otro Planeta” featuring funk, Afro Cuban rhythms and electronic music at the Teatro Alvear
For dinner head to one of the city’s Italian restaurants (we suggest Doppio Zero) and order a plate of gnocchi. Local tradition says that on the 29th of every month money must be placed under a plate of gnocchi in order to increase fortune!

If your planning to visit the city center to see the obelisco, or to take a tour of the Colón Theatre, head to the Palacio de Aguas Corrientes (palace of running waters) on Cordoba Avenue and Riobamba first. Originally built as a disguise for a water tower meant to provide clean drinking water to the people after the 1877 outbreak of yellow fever, the stunning palace now works as Aguas Argentinas (the local water company) headquarters and also as a museum.

Chef Soledad Nardeli from Chila will dictate a free cooking class at 6pm at Aguero and Libertador in Recoleta.

Thursday

Pura Tierra’s chef , Martín Molteni , will dictate a free cooking class at 6pm at Parque Centenario.

Start the week by paying a visit to the Carlos Gardel Museum and learn everything there is to know about the famous tango legend. If you stay until 6.30 pm you can watch some live tango and at 8pm a screening of the monthly tango film (with English subtitles!) which is the documentary “Astor Piazzola, La otra cara del tango.” this month.
Later on head to Isabel, a glitzy posh bar with a dark seventies inspired interior in Palermo that offers great drinks which you trade purchased casino chips (isabelinas) for.

Day Trip to Tigre

At the starting point of the Paraná delta, in the outskirts of the city, is the town of Tigre, set on an island lined by small rivers and streams. This rugged location surrounded by nature offers a variety of attractions including canoeing, kayak and other excursions by boat, trekking, ecotourism, motorboat and commuter boats to take you to different places on the riverside, restaurants, spas, tea-houses, picnic sites, a naval museum, an art museum, a mate museum, a casino, a crafts fair and an amusement park.
How to get there:
By train:
The train is one of the fastest ways to get to Tigre and you have the option of taking the regular train or the “Tren de la Costa” which includes a scenic view and the possibility to stop at different train stations where you can shop for antiques (Borges station) or organic food (San Fernando station on Saturdays.)
Direct train from Retiro Terminal Station - At Retiro station you have to take Mitre line train going to Tigre. Trip duration: 50 minutes.
Tren de la Costa from Retiro Terminal Station
1. Retiro to Tren de la Costa: At Retiro station you have to take the Mitre line train heading to Mitre station. Once you have arrived at Mitre station you have to cross the bridge over Maipu 2600 Ave, which takes you to Maipu station of Tren de la Costa.
2. Maipú station of “Tren de la Costa” to Tigre: At Maipu station of Tren de la Costa you have to take the train going to the Delta. It is a 30-minute long trip in a modern train with a beautiful view of Rio de la Plata and you can get on and off as you please.
Getting to Tigre by bus- Take Line 60 bus which starts its route at Constitucion. Trip duration: 90 minutes.
Getting to Tigre by car- Take Panamericana Highway up to Acceso Norte, then Tigre road on the ‘Autopista del Sol’

A Neocolonial building with a beautiful Spanish style courtyard houses the Isaac Fernandez Blanco collection of Hispanic-American art. An impressive display of antique and religious objects, furniture, silver, and paintings dating back to the 1700´s are sure to take you back to a key historic moment where two very different cultures colided to define what South America is today.
