This Week in Buenos Aires

The week gets off to a busy start as August comes upon us promising interesting visitors, including Catalan Theatre group La Fura dels Baus and the talented Bobby Mc Ferrin, and anticipating the Tango Festival at the end of the month!

Start the week by paying a visit to the Carlos Gardel Museum and learn everything there is to know about the famous tango legend. If you stay until 6.30 pm you can catch a screening of the monthly tango film (with English subtitles!) which is the documentary “Abrazos, Tango En Buenos Aires” this month.

For drinks later on head to La Cigale a Monday classic.

Visit the Enrique Larreta Spanish Art Museum, decorated as a Spanish renaissance palace and surrounded by a unique Spanish Muslim garden.

Live jazz and tarot readings will be held at Centro Cultural Matienzo staring 6pm.

Marc Ferrez was one of the most influential Brazilian photographers of the nineteenth century. To view a collection of his photographs head to the spectacular Fernandez Blanco Museum of Hispanic Art.  You can book a tour in English at the following number: 4327-0272.

Later on take book your place on a gastronomic tour of Palermo with Fuudis starting at 8.45pm.

Take a guided tour in English at 4pm and 7pm of  Cosmopolis, Borges y Buenos Aires, the Borges exhibit in Casa de la Cultura,

In the evening get to know more about the local wine industry at the weekly tastings in Fierro Hotel.

Music lovers will also be able to enjoy a live Bobby Mc Ferrin concert at the Gran Rex Theatre starting 9.30pm. Tickets available here.

Check out Axel Jaroslavsky’s digital art being exhibited at the Centro Cultural Recoleta, next to the Recoleta Cemetery and across traditional bar La Biela.

For Friday night parties check out Fiesta Cumbiri, where African rhythms will be played until dawn or head to Privilege nightclub where Dutch DJ Mario V will be heating up the dance floor.

Experiment with your senses at the Centro Cultural Konex where the temporary exhibit “Dialogo en la Oscuridad” will guide you through a series of recreated situations, such as shopping or traveling in a boat,  in total darkness.  Sat-Sun 10am-5.30pm. Sarmiento 3131, Abasto. 4864-3200.
