Casa FOA-CMD is an annual design market showcasing architecture, interior design, art and landscaping ideas. The fair is held in the historic neighborhood of Barracas until the 10th of October.  Due to safety we suggest you take a cab to get there or one of the fairs free van rides which leave every hour and half from Cerrito 570, Downtown (12 am, 1.30pm , 3pm, 4.30pm y 6pm.) The last van returns to the city at 8pm.

In the evening head to the DOT shopping center to watch some of the exciting movies about kayaking experiences, long boards, climbing and more being screened at the BANFF Mountain Film Festival World Tour starting at 8pm.

An exhibit of neoclassic terracotta ornaments, which became popular in both local and Greek domestic architecture during the early nineteenth century, is being displayed at the Museo de la Ciudad in San Telmo.

In the evening The Police guitarist, Andy Summers, joins forces with bossa master Menescal to present United Kingdom of Ipanema at the Gran Rex Theatre. Tickets here.

Amongst this weeks many fairs is the Caminos y Sabores fair, exhibiting a variety of local foods and products and the Vinos y Bodegas fair, especially for those interested in local wines and wineries.  Both Fairs will be held at La Rural in Palermo until the weekend.

Later on head to the new “it” place, the Rio Cafe, for drinks,  where they will be hosting their weekly Wednesday Rock in Rio.

Take advantage of the sunny weather to explore the city’s monuments such as the Floralis Generica in Recoleta, The Puente de la Mujer in Puerto Madero and Canto al Trabajo in San Telmo.

Later on book your place for the Fierro Hotel’s Thursday wine tasting and sample some great Argentine wines, chosen by the president of the Argentine sommelier association Andres Rosberg and in-house Sommelier Martin Bruno.  Tastings cost 25 USD per person and are limited to 7 people.

FILBA- The international literature festival being held this week in Buenos Aires offers a variety of activities and lectures relating the literature. The festival closes on Sunday with a  reading in English by South African Nobel Prize winner John Maxwell Coetzee of one of his unedited stories at 8pm at the MALBA.
