Buenos Aires, vereda de libros (sidewalks of books) will be taking place this week throughout the city where bookshops will be displaying their material on the sidewalks of the City. To kick off the event there will be an experimental reading with music held at the Biblioteca Ricardo Güiraldes at 2.30pm, and a recycling activity at 4pm at the Biblioteca Martín del Barco Centenera, where sculptures will be made from discarded paper and cardboard.

In the evening don’t miss out on La Bomba del Tiempo, a percussion orchestra that has become one of the local absolute musts.  For some great post dancing pizza, head to nearby Los Cocos and order a fugazetta pizza, an onion and mozzarella local specialty.

If your planning to visit the city center to see the obelisco, or to take a tour of the Colon Theatre, head to the Palacio de Aguas Corrientes (palace of running waters) on Cordoba Avenue and Riobamba first.  Originally built as a disguise for a water tower meant to provide clean drinking water to the people after the 1877 outbreak of yellow fever, the stunning palace now works as Aguas Argentinas (the local water company) headquarters and also as a museum.

For a great gourmet lunch in the nearby area head to Restó, just 5 blocks away from the Palace.

In the evening the Canadian group Broken Social Scene will be playing their new album “Forgiveness Rock Record” at La Trastienda.
