Monday

Get some Christmas shopping done at Galerias Pacifico on Florida, it has one of the biggest Christmas trees in town, and is also a unique building with beautiful murals and architecture where you can take an audio tour on Mondays through Fridays from 11.30am-4.30pm.  Florida and Cordoba Avenue.

Later on head to Museo Carlos Gardel to learn more about this legendary Tanguero, and stay for the tango concert at 6.30pm. Jean Jaures 735, Abasto. 4964-2015

 

Tuesday

The Museo de Arte Decorativo is showcasing a special exhibit on Russian Icons and art from Tibet. Additionally the museums marvelous collection of European and Oriental paintings and sculptures, the great hall and the impressive staircase make it well worth a visit before they close on the 23rd of December until January.  Av.del Libertador 1902, Recoleta.  4801-8248. Tuesdays to Sundays from 2.00pm to 7.00pm.  Guided tours in English are available every day at 2pm.

In the evening head to Isabel, a glitzy posh bar with a dark seventies inspired interior in Palermo that offers great drinks which you trade purchased casino chips (Isabelinas) for.  Uriarte 1664, Palermo Soho. 4834 6969.

 

Wednesday

The MALBA (Museum of Latin American Art) is celebrating its 10th anniversary with many new exhibitions including the Cruz-Diez Color in Space and Time. It is also showing classic mystery films throughout the month. Program available here. Avenida Figueroa Alcorta 3415, Recoleta. 4808-6500. Thursday to Monday: 12.00 am to 8.00 pm. Wednesdays 12.00- 9.00 pm.

Later on stop by Rio Cafe for a relaxed chilled out atmosphere and great drinks. Honduras 4772, Palermo‬. Open 10pm-3am‬.

 

Thursday

If you’re visiting the Recoleta Cemetery or the surrounding parks, stop by the Centro Cultural Recoleta to check out some of the photography and art exhibits, such as Diego Pierri´s Ulmen, El Imperio de las Pampas.  Junin 1930, Recoleta, 4803-1040.

Book your place for the Fierro Hotel’s Thursday wine tasting and sample some great Argentine wines, chosen by the president of the Argentine Sommelier Association Andres Rosberg and in-house Sommelier Martin Bruno.  Tastings cost 25 USD per person and are limited to 7 people. Friday

Luis Perlotti was a distinguished Argentine sculptor who dealt with native themes and indigenous imagery, as well as producing sculptures and monuments of local characters of the artistic and political scene. The museum showcases an ample selection of his works as well as displaying sculptures by other renowned Argentine artists. During this week there will also be an exhibit of nativity scenes sculpted by local artists. Pujol 644, Caballito. 4433-3396. Tuesday to Sunday from 11am-7pm.

In the evening head to Parque Centerario were Tango Day will be celebrated with a live show at 8pm. Avenida Díaz Vélez 5463. 4982 4252

 

Saturday and Sunday

Reserve your place for the special Christmas Eve Dinner and Christmas Brunch at Hernan Gipponi Restaurant in Fierro Hotel. Soler 5862, Palermo. 3220-6800.

Head to one of the Christmas Eve parties at some of the city’s hottest nightspots. Some suggestions include the Magic Christmas Party at Niceto Club, Trasnoche Navideña at Boris Club de Jazz and Navidad at Viruta Tango.  Keep in mind that transport is complicated on Christmas Eve so call taxi companies at least a day in advance.
