Don´t miss the exhibits of Argentine art at the MALBA featuring Matias Duville’s celebrated contemporary art, and a retrospective of Victor Grippo’s best work. Avenida Figueroa Alcorta 3415, Recoleta.

In the evening stop by La Peña del Colorado where a tango peña will be held at 8.30pm. This Palermo-centered peña serves traditional food and stages live shows as well as hosting folklore dances for the community.  From midnight onwards they also encourage the diners to play spontaneous guitar music. Tuesday

Rain is forecasted for Tuesday so it is a great chance to get to know some of the city’s indoor landmarks. Find some great rainy day suggestions in Buenos Aires here.

In the evening don´t miss the opening of the international guitar festival that will take place from the 2nd to the 14th of October.  The opening show will feature typical music from Argentina and Peru and begins at 8pm at Avenida Independencia 2880, San Telmo.

Wednesday

October is a great month to visit the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (MNBA) due to their recent remodeling and temporary showcase of an El Greco painting. Avda. Libertador 1473, Recoleta.

The Colón Theatre is one of the most internationally renowned opera houses and during October it will be staging La Cenerentola (Cinderella) –Two act opera. 1817. Music by Gioachino Rossini and libretto by Giacopo Ferretti. Musical direction- Reinaldo Censabella. Mise en Scene- Sergio Renán. 3rd, 5th, and 7th of October. Tickets here.

The Buenos Aires Contemporary Dance Festival kicks off and brings renowned international and local acts to the city scene until the 8th!

Book your place at Fierro Hotel’s Thursday wine tasting and sample some great Argentine wines, chosen by the president of the Argentine Sommelier Association Andres Rosberg and in-house Sommelier Martin Bruno. The Buenos Aires Culinary Week kicks off with many discounts and special events. From 4pm-6pm there will be an outdoor cooking class at the Barrancas de Belgrano parks.

Saturday and Sunday

The International Buenos Aires Marathon will take place early on Saturday morning starting at 7.30pm from Av. Figueroa Alcorta and Monroe in Belgrano. More information here.

On Saturday evening Snow Patrol will stage a live show at Estadio Luna Park. Tickets here.

On Sunday head to the Feria de Mataderos to experience gaucho traditions, folklore music and typical foods. (Take a cab to avoid getting lost as it is on the outskirts of the city).
