Monday is a national holiday. The date commemorates cultural diversity and there will be many activities around the city to celebrate!

Saturday

The International Buenos Aires Marathon will take place early on Saturday morning starting at 7.30pm from Av. Figueroa Alcorta and Monroe in Belgrano. More information here.

At 4pm chef Guillermo Busquiazo will host a live cooking class at Av. Infanta Isabel and Av. Iraola in Palermo.

The Buenos Aires Contemporary Dance Festival will be in full swing throughout the whole day with different performances around the city. Find the full program here.

A special guitar concert will take place as part of the International Guitar Festival. Leonardo Andersen, Edgardo Acuña, Freddy Pérez Velazco  and Ricardo Moyano will be playing at 8pm at the Centro Cultural Unión on Av. Independencia 2880, San Telmo.

Renowned chef Soledad Nardelli will host a live cooking class starting at 4pm at Av. Infanta Isabel and Av. Iraola in Palermo.

Grab a bike and pedal down to the Obelisk where the now famous monthly bicycle event, La Masa Crítica, will kick off at 4pm.

Indigenous cultures will be celebrated at the Festejo Contrafestejo Festival which will start at midday in Parque Los Andes on Olleros and Corrientes Avenue.

Head to the Feria de Mataderos to experience gaucho traditions, folklore music and typical foods. (Take a cab to avoid getting lost as it is on the outskirts of the city).

The Colón Theatre will be staging La Cenerentola (Cinderella) –Two act opera. 1817. Music by Gioachino Rossini and libretto by Giacopo Ferretti. Musical direction- Reinaldo Censabella. Mise en Scene- Sergio Renán. 3rd, 5th, and 7th of October. Tickets here.

Monday

At 4pm chef Dolli Irigoyen will host a live cooking class at Plaza de Mayo (Rivadavia and Reconquista.

Stop for some tea and sweet treats at the traditional Confitería Las Violetas and then celebrate the return of the sun at the nearby La Bomba del Tiempo, a percussion orchestra that has become one of the local absolute musts. Centro Cultural Konex Sarmiento 3131, Abasto. 4864-3200

In the evening stop by La Peña del Colorado where a tango peña will be held at 8.30pm. This Palermo-centered peña serves traditional food and stages live shows as well as hosting folklore dances for the community.  From midnight onwards they also encourage the diners to play spontaneous guitar music.
