Alberto Giacometti, despite his Italian last name, was a renowned Swiss surrealist sculptor and painter. His elongated representations of the human body were according to the artist sculptures of the shadows bodies cast. The elegant and expressive figures he created will be on display in Buenos Aires at the Fundación PROA in La Boca from the 13th of October until the 9th of January.

The exhibit will feature over 130 of his pieces which range from his initial works in Switzerland, those he did under the influence of Cezanne and African art, and to his more well known sculptures and paintings from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s in which his representation of heads and lanky figures can be appreciated.

Tours in Spanish are available from Tuesdays to Fridays at 5pm, on Saturdays at 3pm, and on Sundays at 3pm and 5pm. Tours in English can be booked 48hs. in advance at educacion@proa.orgAv. Pedro de Mendoza 1929, La Boca. 4104-1000.
