This Week in Buenos Aires

Today is the last day of the Buenos Aires Alta Moda (BAAM) Fashion Week at the Sheraton that shows all the haute-couture collections for Autumn-Winter 2013.  Runway shows by different designers are programmed at 6pm, 8pm, and 9.30pm. 4773 6233.

In the evening stop by La Peña del Colorado. This Palermo-centered peña serves traditional food and stages live shows as well as hosting folklore dances for the community.  From midnight onwards they also encourage the diners to play spontaneous guitar music.  Staring at 10 pm there will also be a vigil outisde the Buenos Aires Metropolitan cathedral with live music shows and a broadcast of all the events at the Vatican starting at 5 am due to the inauguration of Pope Francisco.

Stop by the new Gardel exhibit that is being showcased at the Casa de la Cultura until the 30th of April. The exhibition features the largest tango collection in the world! Av. De Mayo 575, first floor, downtown.

Later on, don’t miss the Colón Theatre’s first ballet of the year, Neoclassical Trilogy III. Tickets here.

Everything French will be celebrated on Wednesday at Plaza San Martin where there will be French cuisine, exhibits, performances and more from midday to 8pm.

In the evening the Orquesta Típica Fernandez Fierro will be staging a live tango show at the Club Atlético Fernandez Fierro in Abasto.  Sánchez de Bustamante 764, Abasto.

Stop for a light lunch at hierbabuena in San Telmo and then check out the Margarita Paksa exhibit at the MAMBA, on until the 30th of March.  Av. San Juan 350, San Telmo.  4342-3001.

Later on stop by La Catedral in Almagro where you can take a tango lesson staring at 7.30 pm or 9pm. Sarmiento 4006, Almagro.

  1. I think your blog is the best! We just got home from spending a week in Buenos Aires. I have been following your blog for several months and did followup on several of the things you discussed. We are ready to go back to BA again! It is such a great place, great food and so many wonderful things to do!!! Keep the blog going we will continue to follow you.
