Autumn in Buenos Aires is the time when cultural activities pick up and international acts visit the city. It is also the season to discover some of the city’s indoor attractions such as the stunning Colón Theatre, the many museums; tango venues and traditional cafes where warming up with some coffee and medialunas are a must.
March sees the end of summer with some outdoor parties still in full swing but with lower temperatures and crunchy leaves in place of the vibrant jacarandas. The Colón Theatre‘s ballet and concert season kicks off and museums begin to renew their exhibits. Amongst them the MALBA which will be showcasing a Grete Stern exhibit and one of Adriana Varejao’s work.

The pace picks up in April that is abuzz with cultural events including the return of Gallery Nights to the city, the BAFICI (international film festival), the Book Fair and the Pepsi Music Festival which will host shows by Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age and others (Tickets here ). Also the Colón Theatre‘s opera season beings with a production of Carmen.

During May the Book Fair continues and there are also a variety of other festivals including the Puro Diseño design fair and Arte BA, the most important art fair of the country. Buenos Aires Polo Circo also takes place in May and brings the best circus acts to the local stage.

As winter begins to make itself present, art continues to be one of the focal aspects of the local cultural buzz with the Ciudad Emergente festival that showcases the work of young upcoming artists. This June the MALBA will also be hosting a Yayoi Kusama exhibit that will be well worth visiting. More events will be published closer to date.
