Christmas Week in Buenos Aires 2014

Christmas week kicks off on Wednesday the 24th which is a bank holiday, and then the 25th and 26th are both national holidays which means many of the cities attractions will be closed. However, there will be some great Christmas parties and chances to enjoy some of the best holiday cuisine at UCO, Fierro’s great new restaurant.

Stop by the stunning Ateneo Grand Splendid bookstore, considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world, and purchase a nice gift whilst getting to know one of the city landmarks. Av. Santa Fe 1860, Recoleta

Later on, stop by Centro Cultural Konex where the famous percussion group, La Bomba del Tiempo, will be carrying out their Monday show starting at 7pm. Sarmiento 3151, Almagro.

In the evening, catch the Colón Theater’s ballet production of The Nutcracker. Tickets here.

Wednesday

The MALBA will be open from midday to 6pm and is featuring a great exhibit of artist Antonio Berni´s work. Av. Figueroa Alcorta 3415, Palermo.

The most popular after-dinner Christmas party is in Pacha, and this year, the line up will be featuring Pig & Dan. Stop by if you like dancing until dawn. Av. Costanera Rafael Obligado y La Pampa, Palermo.

Keep in mind that transport is limited on Christmas Eve so be sure to make arrangements in advance!

Chinese artist Cai Guo-Quiang is showcasing his first exhibit in Argentina at Fundación PROA. His work includes installations and portraits and landscapes (in this case of the Misiones and Salta provinces) made with gunpowder. Av.Pedro de Mendoza 1929, La Boca.

In the evening, legendary Palermo nightclub Club Niceto will be posting its most popular party, Club 69, starting at midnight. Niceto Vega 5510, Palermo

Friday

The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (MNBA) is showcasing a new photography exhibit on the topic of Latin America. The museum is also featuring a collection of erotic art, and an exhibit dedicated to El Greco. Av. Del Libertador 1473, Recoleta.
