Spring-summer collections will be showcased all week at this year’s second edition of BAF Week, anticipating new designs and tendencies, and the warm months to come. The concept behind this season’s event is denim, so variations of this popular fabric are to be expected.  This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in the flourishing local design scene as runway shows and stands will bring the best of Argentine fashion together. Our top picks are Tramando by Martin Churba,  Marcelo Serna, and Mariana Dappiano.

Tramando by Martin Churba– Martin Churba, the talented designer behind Tramando began more than 15 years ago as a textile artist. In 2002 he opened his clothing line combining textile design with the fabrication of unique clothes. For this collection the premise is Fashion Now (after presenting a Retro collection for Autumn-Winter). The collection will be presented on Tuesday 9th of August at 5 pm in La Rural.

Marcelo Senra-  This Salta native brings an ethnic imprint to his unique design. His creations transform South American materials, textures, knits, forms, colors and patterns into modern urban styles modern life bringing both worlds together. For this collection he was inspired by nature and the senses working with different textures in his fabrics and incorporating natural elements such as seeds. His collection will be showcased on Wednesday 10th of August at 5 pm in La Rural.

Mariana Dappiano-As Martin Churba, Mariana Dappiano is also a textile and clothing designer and brings her knowledge and creation of the fabric into her design. Her artistic approach to design has led her to work with renowned plastic artists Marta Minujin and Nicolas Garcia and has brought her designs to the MALBA museum and the Colon Theatre amongst others. For this collection she was inspired by the relationships amongst mothers, daughters, sisters amongst other forms of womanhood using very colorful and pictorial textiles which incorporate sinewy lines and splashes. The runway show will be held on Friday 12th of August at 6pm.

We recommend you get tickets in advance for each runway show as there is limited seating availability. Tickets are available from 2pm-8pm at the event, which is at La Rural. Av. Sarmiento 2704, Palermo. Their cost is 30 or 70 pesos depending on general or preferential seating. More information about BAF Week shows and designers here.
