Palermo is a great area to wine and dine, and at Fierro‘s restaurant UCO we are keen on offering the best grapes for just that. Wine however is not just a dinner thing, and there are a few lovely bars in the area to sample the local gems when you’re not a mouthful  with our seven course tasting menu.

JA! Lo de Joaquín Alberdi: Located in the trendy Palermo Soho, this lively wine bar has a good reputation for both its wines and friendly service. They offer wine tastings on Thursdays and Fridays, and also, personalized tastings on request. Jorge Luis Borges 1772, Palermo Soho.

Pain et Vin: This boutique wine store and gourmet bakery is also a great place for wine tasting with star oenologists leading noses and palates through an ample range of unique wine varieties. Gorriti 5132, Palermo Soho.

Autre Monde:  If reading and wine is your thing, then this is the spot to shop for both a bottle and a book as the wine bar coexists in the same space with Alamut bookstore. Borges 1985, Palermo Soho.

HOLLYWOOD

Bar du Marché: For French style wine-ing with fromage, stop by this charming bar that also has a hidden closed door sushi restaurant called Omakase, and is right around the block from Fierro Hotel.  Nicaragua 5946, Palermo Hollywood.

Ser y Tiempo: Named after the famous philosophy treatise by Martin Heidegger, this wine bar combines Dionysian flavors with jazzy notes and a laid back atmosphere where you can taste boutique Argentine wines. Gorriti 5910,  Palermo Hollywood.

The stunning Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo in Recoleta is featuring a new exhibit of objects crafted in silver. The museum’s permanent collection is also well worth visiting, and their courtyard café- Croque Madame is the perfect spot for a pick-me-up coffee and a pastry.Av. Libertador 1902, Recoleta

From Wednesday to Saturday the Colón Theatre will be featuring a special performance of El Ascenso (The Ascent), an experimental choreography by Luis Garay. Tickets here.

El Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo en Recoleta está exhibiendo una nueva colección de platería artesanal. También se puede visitar la colección permanente del museo y parar en Croque Madame, el café situado en el patio, un lugar perfecto para pasar a la tarde a disfrutar de un café acompañado de pastelería francesa. Av. Sculpture and dance come together at a joint exhibit by the national fine arts museum (MNAD) and the Centro Cultural Kirchner. Sarmiento 151, downtown.

In the evening, Murnau’s famous Nosferatu will be screened at the Colón Theatre with live orchestra music. Tickets here.

On Saturday, head to Niceto Club to the Dune International Psychedelic Rock Fest (tickets here) or stop by the Buddha Sounds concert at the ND Teatro (tickets here).

It’s also the best time of the year to head to the 3 de Febrero Palermo parks as the roses, jacarandas and silk floss trees are in bloom! A great outing for Sunday as many things will be closed due to national presidential elections taking place.

Start the week by visiting the Evita Museum to find out more about this emblematic political figure. Guided tours in English can be booked in advance and last about an hour.

In the evening, head to the stately Claridge Hotel’s tea parlor for a free concert by Opera Singer Elena Tasisto at 7pm.

Take a walk down Corrientes Avenue and stop by the Gran Rex Theatre for a free Vivaldi concert at 1pm.  Only 9 blocks away is the best pizza in town at El Cuartito.

Later in the evening you can catch the stunning Fuerza Bruta show being staged until Friday at the Luna Park.  Tickets here.

If you’re up for drinks, or some vegetarian food, head to Magdalena’s Party in Palermo, which opens from 8pm-3am.

Weather forecasts predict rain for Thursday so it’s a good day to visit museums. An interesting alternative is the Museo Penitenciario (the penitentiary museum) set in a building that dates back to 1732.  The display traces the history of the federal prison activity and shows objects, and archives.

Later on visit the Festival en Pantalla Chica, in the Centro Cultural Rojas, which will be screening a selection of the “Best youtube videos” At 7pm.

In the evening the Ernesto Jodos Trio will be playing jazz at Thelonious at 9.30pm.

Inside a beautiful French style building you will find The Decorative Art Museum, which showcases a collection of local and foreign objects and furniture. Currently they are also hosting a temporary exhibit of Swedish ceramics. The building in itself makes the museum well worth the visit and the cafe in the courtyard is a lovely place for an afternoon stop.

In the evening the British Arts center is staging Chekhov’s “The Marriage Proposal” at 9pm.

For some live music later on, head to Thelonious, where Pipi Piazzolla  (Astor Piazzollas grandson) will be playing at midnight.
