Ciudad Emergente, now in its seventh year, promises turns from Fuerza Bruta, Hip Hop Battles, street art, a retrospective of the Rolling Stones, fashion shows, stand-up comedy, more than 200 bands and artists playing live music and plenty more. Time for some traditional culture. Once the home of sculptor Rogelio Yrurtia, this beautiful colonial house-turned-museum displays his belongings including interesting objects, textiles (which he collected) and ceramics, many from China, Japan, Holland and Java, a collection of Argentine paintings, and many of his own sculptures and sketches of some of the city monuments which he was responsible for. El Mercado de Pulgas flea market in Palermo – not to be confused with the outdoor antique market surrounding Plaza Dorrego in San Telmo – is a great place for knick-knacks, antique furniture and unique finds. The market offers all sorts of distinctive objects from all around the globe due to the colorful migratory history of the country. Ciudad Emergente: The festival, which seeks to display emerging art and cultural expressions of the city, will take place from the 19th to the 23rd of June at the Centro Cultural Recoleta Junín 1930, Recoleta.

The Argentine national Flag Day is celebrated on the 20th of June, which is a national holiday Expect locro, pastelitos, and other typical festive delicacies!

Yayoi Kusama: To end the month with a punch, the much awaited Yayoi Kusama exhibit kicks off on the 30th of June at the MALBA. Av. Figueroa Alcorta 3415, Palermo. 4808-6500.

Cuisine Vins Expo: The 2012 Cuisine Vins Expo will be taking place at the stunning Palacio Paz from the 6th-8th of June. A must for foodie and wine enthusiasts alike! Av. Santa Fe 750, Downtown. From 5pm-11pm. 

Ciudad Emergente:  The festival, which seeks to display emerging art and cultural expressions of the city, will take place from the 6th to the 10th of June at the Centro Cultural Recoleta Junín 1930, Recoleta.

Feria Puro Diseño: The best of contemporary Argentine design will be on display at La Rural from the 14th to the 20th of June. Sarmiento 2704, Palermo.

Fura dels Baus at the Colón Theatre: Alex Ollé, from the famous Catalan theatre group La Fura dels Baus, will be staging a unique coproduced version of Oedipus at the Colón Theatre on the 1st, the 3rd and the 5th of June. Tickets here.

Rinaldo, an opera by Georg Friedrich Händel, will also be staged at the Colón theatre on the 12th, 15th, 17th, and 19th of June. Tickets here.
