The first edition of the B.15 Performance Biennial will be taking place until the 7th of June with works by renowned local and international artists including Laurie Anderson, Marta Minujín, Sophie Calle and more. Find the full program here.

In the afternoon, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm you can stop by the Fierro Hotel garden and grab a couple of cocktails at the new UCO after office event! 3220-6800. Soler 5862, Palermo.

One of the city’s architectural landmarks is the famous Palacio Barolo, full of references to poet Dante Alighieri. Guided tours take place from 4pm to 7pm and evening guided tours at 8.30pm include tasting of an awarded wine and a national delicacy. Av. de Mayo 1370, downtown.

Everything Dutch

With Prince William-Alexander and Maxima’s coronation coming up next week, Holland is in the midst of preparations for the festivities, and Buenos Aires is also focusing on everything Dutch.

The annual international book fair, which will take place from tomorrow until the 13th of May, has made Amsterdam its guest city in the fair and will be featuring the Amsterdam Café where different Dutch authors will be presenting books. Also, there will be exhibits of Vincent Van Gogh’s letters to Theo and illustrators works, amongst others.

From the 24th of April to the 5th of May, the Dutch experimental music ensemble, Modelo62, will tour the country, stopping by Buenos Aires and Córdoba to stage free live shows and host other activities including seminars and a composition contest. Find the full program here.

On the 30th of April, on the day of the coronation, there will be a party in San Telmo to celebrate the royal event. The celebration will combine typical cuisine and drinks from Holland and Argentina, late-night dancing, and a lot of orange. The party begins at 9pm at Boutique San Telmo, Peru 535. Tickets are 200 pesos in advance and 250 pesos on the day of the party and include food and drinks throughout the night. More information here.

This Week in Buenos Aires

Stop by Museo Casa Carlos Gardel and learn more about the influential tango composer. Later on stay for the live tango concert starting at 6.30pm. Jean Jaures 735, Abasto.

In the evening stop by La Peña del Colorado where a tango peña will be held at 8.30pm. This Palermo centered Peña serves traditional food and stages live shows by an array of performers as well as hosting folklore dances for the community.  From midnight onwards they also encourage the diners to play spontaneous guitar music. A new temporary exhibit will be displayed at the Espacio Virrey Liniers showcasing the latest archeological explorations of Buenos Aires city. Opening hours: Tue-Sun 2pm-7pm. Venezuela 469, Montserrat.

Don’t miss out on the chance to see an opera at the Colón Theatre. This week the famous Opera house will be staging La Forza del Destino-Music by Giuseppe Verdi. Libretto by Francesco Maria Piave (1869 revised version.)  22nd, 24th, 26th and 28th of April. Tickets here.

The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Recoleta is presenting a new exhibit ¨Claridad, la vanguardia en lucha¨, showcasing Argentine art from the 20´s-40´s depicting different social and political aspects that the country was going through at the time. Av. Del Libertador 1473, Recoleta.
