The MNBA in Recoleta is showcasing a new exhibit of Mexican muralists Siqueiros, Rivera, and Orozco’s works.

The MALBA inaugurates its Yoko Ono exhibit on the 24nd of June showcasing works by the artist that span from the 60’s to the present day.

El 24 de junio, el MALBA inaugura una muestra de Yoko Ono en la que se mostrarán obras que abarcan la carrera de la artista a partir de los sesentas.

Renowned Argentine Artist, Guillermo Roux, is showcasing a collection of paintings at the Colón Theatre inspired by orchestras until the 17th of June. You can find the full June program of the theatre here.

Kick off the month at the Ateneo Grand Splendid bookstore, considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world, and read something enticing over a cup of coffee. Av. Santa Fe 1860, Recoleta.

In the evening, stop by Centro Cultural Konex where famous percussion group, La Bomba del Tiempo, will be carrying out their Monday show starting at 7pm. Sarmiento 3151, Almagro.

Tuesday

Volatil felicidad (Fleeting Happiness) is the new photography exhibit taking place at Parque de la Memoria, which gathers a collection of images from Argentina in the nineties. Rafael Obligado 6745, Costanera.

In the evening, at 8pm, Russian pianist Evgeni Kissin will be staging a live concert at the Colón Theatre. Tickets here.

One of the city’s architectural landmarks is the famous Palacio Barolo, full of references to poet Dante Alighieri. Guided tours take place from 4pm to 7pm and evening guided tours at 8.30pm include tasting of an awarded wine and a national delicacy. Av. de Mayo 1370, downtown.

At 7pm, head to La Trastienda for their Brazilian Wednesday event, Miércoles Carinhosos, and dance all the way past midnight. Balcarce 460, San Telmo.

The biggest art fair of Latin America kicks off its four day marathon on Thursday promising for a weekend full of creative surprises. Find more information here.

In the evening, the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra and Pipa Gao Hong as a soloist will be presenting Sang Keije’s Lovers’ Besieged, amongst other classical pieces at the Colón Theatre. Tickets here.

Friday

Take one of FotoRuta’s Street Scape tours and learn some photography tips while discovering the city from a different angle. More information here.

In the evening, French film fans can catch a screening of Godard’s masterpiece Contempt at 7.30 and 10pm at the Teatro San Martín. Av. Corrientes 1530, Downtown.

Throughout June, every Saturday at 10pm, renowned Argentine folklore and jazz artist, Luis Salinas, will be playing a live show at Torcuato Tasso. Defensa 1575, San Telmo.

Throughout the weekend, there will be an origami exhibit at the Japanese Gardens in Palermo. Av. Casares 2966, Palermo

Stop by the Palermo Rosedal where you can rent paddle boats to cruise the small lake alongside the ducks, and visit the Sivori Museum, which offers free tours in English and German on Saturdays at 3pm and 5pm! Av. Infanta Isabel 555, Palermo.

Argentine Talent: Luis Salinas

Luis Salinas is one if the most prolific contemporary musicians of the country. Known for his superb guitar playing, and his interpretations of tango, folklore and Latin jazz, he has merged the traditional with the new, proving both his talent and ability.

The renowned guitarist, born in 1957 in Monte Grande, at the south of the Buenos Aires province,  he began playing at a young and recorded with artists such as Adolfo Ábalos, Horacio Salgán and Tomatito, amongst others.

Currently, every Saturday throughout June, he is staging live shows at Torcuato Tasso in San Telmo.  On the 15th of June (today), he will play a repertoire of funk, rock, blues and ballads. On the 22nd of June he will play traditional Latin music and on the 29th he will play Latin-Jazz. Tickets are 120 pesos and places must be booked in advance. The shows begin at 10pm, and the public must arrive at 9pm. More information here.

Monday

Pablo Siquier is an Argentine artist known for his impressive murals and installations. Throughout March a special exhibit held at the Centro Cultural Recoleta will be displaying some of his more experimental work from the eighties and nineties. Junín 1930, Recoleta. 4803 1040. Roger Waters, the British legend that was once part of Pink Floyd, will be playing at the River Plate Stadium!  Tickets here.

Tuesday

If you´re planning to visit the city center to see the Obelisco, or to take a tour of the Colón Theatre, head to the Palacio de Aguas Corrientes (palace of running waters) on Cordoba Avenue and Riobamba first.  Originally built as a disguise for a water tower meant to provide clean drinking water to the people after the 1877 outbreak of yellow fever, the stunning palace now works as Aguas Argentinas´ (the local water company) headquarters and also as a museum. Wednesday

Head to the stunning Colón theatre and tour one of the most celebrated opera houses in the world! Later on stay for La Pasión según San Marcos, an opera by Osvaldo Golijov.Cerrito 628, Downtown. 4378 7100

Thursday

Head to La Rural to the Presentes Otoño interior design fair which will be taking place from the 15th-18th of March. More information here.

Book your place for the Fierro Hotel’s Thursday wine tasting and sample some great Argentine wines, chosen by the president of the Argentine Sommelier Association Andres Rosberg and in-house Sommelier Martin Bruno.  Tastings cost 25 USD per person and are limited to 7 people. Head to the Museo de Arte Español Enrique Larreta. This Spanish Art Museum decorated as a renaissance palace and surrounded by a unique Spanish Muslim garden, was the home of author Enrique Larreta. His extensive collection of sculptures, paintings and furniture mostly from the Renaissance and Baroque periods can be appreciated in this ornamented historical landmark.  Juramento 2291, Belgrano, 4784-4040. Saturday and Sunday

St Patrick’s day celebrations will be happening all around town, especially at the local pubs. For a traditional special St. Paddy´s day party head to The Casabar in Recoleta. 1150 Rodriguez Pena, Recoleta.

Renowned guitarist Scott Henderson will be playing at the ND/Ateneo on Saturday as part of his Well to the Bone Tour 2012. Tickets available here.

Another famous guitarist will also be staging a live show on Saturday. Luis Salinas will be playing at La Trastienda at 11.30pm. Tickets here.
